Shelmin (Daughter), Mdm Soh ( Client -70 yrs old )

My mum has been a hawker for over 20 years. Long hours of standing with no helper and long hours of work have put a tremendous strain on her hip joints. As a result, while at her stall, she suddenly lost the ability to walk. She had to be brought to the hospital, and doctors informed her that she had to get hip replacements. For some reason, after the hip replacements, my mum ended up with legs uneven lengths. Initially, the difference was less than 2 cm. Nevertheless, this affected my mum's quality of life significantly. She can only buy shoes suitable for adding height soles to even out the difference in her legs' length. It is costly, uncomfortable and restricts her daily life. Over time, the difference in length of my mum's legs increased to over 3.5 cm. Perhaps due to her uneven legs, my mum's spine got crooked, and she lost feelings in her legs due to pressure on her nerves and fell. She had to undergo another surgery to put screws into her spine to straighten it. Thankfully, her nerves were not permanently damaged, and she could walk again.

I had always hoped for a way or surgery to even out my mum's legs to improve her quality of life. However, having spoken to doctors several times, none could offer any solutions. They seem unconcerned and do not think having un-even legs is a big issue. They do not seem to understand that this will affect a patient's confidence and lifestyle. Finally, one day, my colleague recommended Khalim to me. Hoping that training would strengthen her core muscles and put less pressure on her joints, I put my mum (in her late 60s) on personal training with Khalim. To my delight & surprise, Khalim is not a personal trainer who cares much about muscle building, dumbbells and what not. He is concerned about the overall well-being of his customers and is well-versed in many aspects of health and nutrition.

Khalim could identify the underlying causes of my mum's problems. In addition to his training regime, he also goes the extra mile to guide my mum on how she can improve her condition in her daily routine, such as what kind of shoes she should switch to, how she should walk etc. He customised the training to cater to my mum's age and condition. With his advice and training regime, over a short period of 6 months, the un-evenness in my mum's legs got decreased by almost half. It is almost back to the way it was right after the surgery. Khalim has almost reversed a ten years problematic condition in 6months!

My family and I are very grateful for Khalim's commitment to helping my mum regain her quality of life and confidence. My mum (who was initially resistant to training) now enjoys her training and is very committed to it because I believe she trusts Khalim and believes that he has helped her and will improve her well-being. I am now able to bring my mom for holidays trips without having to worry about her walking issues.

Thanks very much, Khalim.
